Development Committee



The Development Committee is responsible for the Free-Net's fundraising strategies. It identifies potential funders and sponsors, contacts them, and writes grant applications. See also the Community Technology Center Team, the OrgResources Team, the Conferencing Team, and the Dialup Team.

Evaluation Specialist Suggest quantitative or qualitative ways to measure the effects of the Free-Net's projects, and supervise the measurement and interpretation of these effects. Experience with surveys, focus groups, and other evaluation tools. 5-25 hours per year. Watch the intangible become tangible. Ben Stallings. Replacement needed!
Donor Solicitor Identify what potential donors are looking for, approach them, and ask them for money in such a way that they want to give it. Prior experience vital. 1-3 hours per month. Be a hero. John Menth. More needed!
Grant Writer Identify potential grantors and what they're looking for. Write grants that convince them that the Free-Net is something they want to fund. Extreme fluency in English and nonprofit jargon, knack for persuasion, experience a plus. 3-10 hours per month, mostly in the spring and fall. Looks great on a résumé. Be a hero. Ann Treacy. Statistician Work with the evaluation specialist to ensure that surveys produce useful data. Collect and interpret data from the server itself and from evaluation tools. Solid background in statistics, passion for precision. 1.26 hours per month, plus or minus 1.71. Precisely calculated imprecision is its own reward. Ben Stallings.
