Coordinator of Organization Services
POSITION FILLED
- TITLE:
- Coordinator of Organization Services.
- PRIMARY PURPOSE:
- Oversight and management of Twin Cities Free-Net's services to affiliate organizations, including the Community Computer Access Network (C-CAN) the Community Zone Web Portal, and paying members.
- REPORTS TO:
- TCFN board of directors, C-CAN advisory board.
- SUPERVISES:
- AmeriCorps*VISTA members, volunteers, interns.

- RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Supervise the activities of two AmeriCorps*VISTA members for the duration of their year of service (roughly the 2001 calendar year).
- Coordinate and facilitate regular meetings of the group of agencies that have a vested interest in the Community Zone Web portal and its associated e-mail lists.
- Periodically re-evaluate the selection of services offered by TCFN to member organizations (including Web hosting, domain name registration, e-mail addresses and lists, and on-site computer training) and the fees associated with those services to best meet the communication needs of the organizations, subject to market competition.
- Identify funding opportunities and help the board of directors apply for grants to support the C-CAN and Community Zone.
- Recruit, train, and support volunteers as needed to continue the provision and invoicing of services to organizational members and the development, maintenance, and promotion of the Community Zone portal.
- KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Proven experience in and knowledge of volunteer management.
- Proven experience in or knowledge of Web hosting, computer tutoring, and e-mail services.
- Proven experience in promoting projects to their target audiences and through the media.
- Ability to represent the TCFN organization and its projects through public speaking and in meetings with community groups.
- Ability to communicate effectively and diplomatically with volunteers, interns, board, staff, and community representatives.
- Excellent organizational skills, including experience using databases and developing coherent Web sites.
- Broad knowledge of computers and the Internet.
- QUALIFICATIONS FOR C-CAN COORDINATOR:
- Bachelor's degree in social services/computer technology/marketing/volunteer management preferred, although a combination of experience and education will be considered.
- Demonstrated familiarity and comfort with online communication, specifically e-mail and Web-based discussion forums.
- Demonstrated ability to present information both in person and in writing in a clear and compelling manner.
- Demonstrated ability to work as a team member.
- Experience in volunteer management and supervision.
