When large corporations upgrade their computer equipment, they often donate their older equipment to nonprofit organizations. Sometimes this equipment arrives without software installation disks or manuals, and almost always the staff and volunteers need additional training before they can use it.
A number of nonprofit organizations have begun offering classes to their fellow nonprofits to help address this problem, notably the Science Museum and MAP for Nonprofits. TCFN has jumped into the fray with its own brand of classes, taught on-site and tailored to each organization's needs.
There's more demand for these classes than the general manager can handle by himself -- especially now that TCFN has received a grant from Club Fed to assist all the other After School Enrichment Program (ASEP) grant recipients. So we need a corps of computer tutors!
Anyone age 12 and up can become a computer tutor, provided you can get to the Twin Cities for training. But if you give classes to the other ASEP organizations (most of which are in North Minneapolis), you'll get a stipend of $10 per hour whenever you teach, and you'll be reimbursed for your transportation. And if you're 18 or younger, you qualify to participate in the other ASEP programs -- so far swimming lessons have been confirmed -- free of charge.
